The Aide Memoire serves as a reference tool on the Security Council’s practice on the protection of civilians in armed conflict. The Aide Memoire consists in a compilation of Security Council’s agreed language on the protection of civilians in armed conflict. To enhance clarity and facilitate use, the Aide Memoire has been organized by themes and sub-themes that pertain to the protection of civilians in armed conflict. To illustrate how the Security Council addresses each theme and sub-theme, the Aide Memoire provides full-text quotes of relevant paragraphs from adopted Security Resolutions and PRSTs, as well as references of similarly relevant official Security Council language, which can be easily accessed.
